TikTok Counter

Privacy Policy

This policy explains exactly what TikTok Counter collects when you use it, why, how long it is kept, and how to exercise your rights. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

Last updated: 17 October 2026

The short version. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no payment details. The site stores ordinary server logs for security and troubleshooting, and records the public statistics of the accounts people look up so it can draw a trend line. Advertising is served by Google, which uses cookies and may personalise ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time.

1. Who we are

TikTok Counter (the “site”) is operated by an independent developer based in Guangzhou, China, a sole trader. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, that operator is the data controller for the processing described below.

Contact for any privacy question or request: [email protected].

2. Scope

This policy covers the website at tiktokdownloadtools.com and every tool hosted on it: the follower counter, the viewer, the engagement rate calculator and the earnings calculator. It does not cover TikTok itself, or any other site you reach by following a link. Those services have their own policies.

3. What is collected

3.1 Server logs

Like every web server, this one records the requests it receives. A log entry contains the IP address, the date and time, the requested path and query string, the referring page, the browser user-agent string and the response status. These logs exist to keep the service running, detect abuse such as automated bulk querying, and diagnose errors.

3.2 Lookup queries

When you submit a username or a video link, that value is sent to the server so it can fetch the corresponding public TikTok page. Video links are resolved before lookup, which may involve one additional request to TikTok.

The result is stored as a snapshot: the username, the public statistics returned (follower count, total likes, video count, and where exposed, play and interaction counts for a video), and a timestamp. Snapshots are what make the follower trend chart possible — TikTok only publishes the current total, never historical values.

Snapshots contain statistics about TikTok accounts, which are public figures or public profiles. They do not contain information about the person doing the lookup, and they are not linked to any visitor identifier.

3.3 Local storage in your browser

The tools keep your last entered username in the page URL so a refresh does not lose it. Preference choices, such as an advertising consent decision, are stored in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device and is not transmitted to the server.

3.4 What is not collected

  • No name, email address or phone number, because there is no account to create.
  • No passwords or TikTok credentials, because the site never logs in.
  • No payment or card details, because nothing is sold on the site.
  • No content from private accounts. Private profiles do not publish statistics, so there is nothing to read.
  • No precise location data. IP addresses in logs are not used to derive a location beyond what the network itself requires.

4. Cookies and advertising

The site itself does not set first-party tracking cookies and does not run its own analytics. Advertising is the exception, and it is described here in full because it is the part that involves cookies.

This site is supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. In Google's own words:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Where required, a consent prompt appears before any non-essential cookie is set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the link in the footer. Declining personalised advertising does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant. The cookie policy lists the specific cookies involved and how to block them in each major browser.

Google explains its own handling of data in advertising products in its partner sites policy.

5. How information is used

  • To return the statistics you asked for.
  • To keep the service available, fast and free of abuse.
  • To detect and fix errors, including when TikTok throttles a request.
  • To display advertising that funds the hosting.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to valid legal requests.

Information is never used to build a profile of an individual visitor, and it is never sold or rented.

Server logs, security and abuse preventionLegitimate interests in keeping the service operational (Art. 6(1)(f))

7. Third parties

ProviderRoleData involved
CloudflareDNS, CDN and network protection in front of the siteIP address, request metadata, security signals
Google AdSenseAdvertising delivery and measurementCookie identifiers, approximate location, device and browser signals
TikTokSource of the public pages the tools read; provider of the embed playerWhen a video is played inside the TikTok embed, TikTok may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, as with any embedded player
Hosting providerServes the application and stores the databaseApplication data and server logs

Each of these providers processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. Links are provided in the cookie policy and in Google's partner sites policy referenced above.

8. Sharing and disclosure

Information is shared only in these situations:

  • With the service providers listed above, to the extent needed to run the site.
  • Where required by law, regulation, court order or a valid request from a competent authority.
  • To protect the rights, safety or property of the site, its operator or its users, for example in response to an attack on the service.
  • In connection with a transfer of the site as a whole, in which case this policy continues to apply to existing data until updated.

The site does not sell personal information, and has not sold any in the preceding twelve months. There is no data-broker arrangement, no list rental and no bulk API.

9. International transfers

The site is served from servers outside the European Economic Area, and the providers named above operate globally. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers have published, such as standard contractual clauses. Because the site collects so little — logs and public statistics — the volume transferred is small.

10. Retention

DataRetained for
Web server and proxy logsUp to 30 days, then deleted or aggregated
Public statistic snapshotsKept while the tool runs, so trends remain comparable
Advertising cookiesSet by Google; see the cookie policy for exact durations
Email you sendKept as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted

11. Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or another jurisdiction with comparable law, you have the right to:

  • Ask whether personal data about you is processed, and obtain a copy.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Have data erased where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent for advertising cookies at any time.
  • Receive data you provided in a portable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and describe the request. Requests are answered within 30 days. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or repetitive.

One honest limitation: because the site has no accounts, it usually holds nothing that identifies you beyond an IP address in a log that may already have been deleted. Where that is the case, the reply will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

12. California and other US state privacy rights

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Equivalent rights exist in several other US states.

The site does not sell personal information. Sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising may occur through Google's advertising cookies; that is the only activity that can be described as “sharing” under the CPRA. To opt out, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or turn on the Global Privacy Control signal in a supported browser — it is honoured as an opt-out request.

13. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold), and no data is knowingly collected from them. There is no registration, no profile and no messaging. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, email [email protected] and it will be removed.

14. Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS with TLS terminated at the network edge. The database is reachable only from the application itself, administrative access is limited to the operator, and dependencies are updated as security releases appear. No system is perfectly secure, but the site deliberately holds as little as possible so that a breach would expose almost nothing.

15. Changes to this policy

Changes are published on this page with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects how data is handled, it will be announced on the homepage for at least 14 days. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.

16. Contact
